US to reject yet another Ceasefire resolution

NY (QJ) -The United States Ambassador to the United Nations, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, has expressed opposition to Algeria’s proposal urging the UN Security Council to adopt a resolution on the urgent cessation of hostilities in Gaza, indicating that Washington is not inclined to support it.
In a statement released by Thomas-Greenfield, she stated that the United States has been working on a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas aimed at facilitating hostage release, humanitarian aid delivery and achieving at least a six-week cessation of hostilities.
Last weekend, President Joe Biden contacted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, as well as the leaders of Egypt and Qatar, to broker the agreement.
On Wednesday, Arab countries in the UN Security Council reaffirmed their support for Algeria’s urgent resolution, which calls for an immediate cessation of hostilities in Gaza and also aims to provide humanitarian assistance to alleviate the suffering caused by the recent conflict in Rafah.
