Ukrainian court sentences Norwegian to probation for trying to smuggle citizen of Somalia

Boryspil, July 13, 2013 (SDN) —Boryspil City District Court has sentenced to probation a Norwegian who tried to smuggle a citizen of Somalia from Ukraine to Norway. “A criminal scheme envisaged the transfer by the suspect of his passport of a citizen of Norway to another man resembling him, a citizen of Somalia. According to this document, the man was to leave Ukraine. However, border guard officers blocked this plan,” the press service of Kyiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported on Friday.

“The convict fully admitted his guilt. Therefore, in accordance with a new criminal procedure law investigators signed a plea agreement with the suspect,” reads the statement.
