UK: Amina Adan’s Killer sentenced to 26 years in prison
London (SDN)-A Somali man accused of killing his girlfriend one year ago plead guilty to the murderĀ in a London court.
Zakaria Mohamed an asylum seeker and Amina Adan a recruitment consultant for Al Jazeera news lived together in an east London dwelling where Zakaria Mohamed stabbed the victim 57 times. Zakaria was on probation for two previous incidents of domestic assault against Amina. However, prior to sentencing the courts sent Zakariya to a domestic assault counselling program and it was during this period of time that it is believed the two reconciled and Zakaria attacked and killed Amina.
Zakaria Mohamed was sentenced to 26 years in prison for the brutal November 2011 murder. The killing shocked the London community at large and the Somali community in particular. The sentencing is expected to bring much needed closure for the family and friends of Amina Adan.
