Trump accuses Iran of hacking into his election Campaign

Washington August 11, 2024(QJ)-U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump has accused Iran of hacking into his election campaign. The campaign team of the Republican candidate issued a statement late on Saturday claiming that the Iranian government had stolen and distributed sensitive internal documents. The accusation came after Microsoft released a report detailing foreign interference attempts in this year’s U.S. election.
Trump’s campaign referenced previous tensions between him and Iran but did not provide direct evidence to support the claims.
A spokesperson for the National Security Council released a statement saying they take any reports of foreign interference “very seriously” and condemn anyone attempting to undermine U.S. democratic institutions.
The Microsoft report noted that “foreign malign influence regarding the 2024 U.S. election started gradually but has increased over the past six months, initially due to Russian operations but more recently involving Iranian activity.”
