TFG Official Executed By Al-Shabab in Somalia
Ceel Cade (SDN) The militant group Al-Shabaab which is embroiled in combat with Somalia’s Transitional Federal Government as well as Ethiopian and Kenyan defense forces has reportedly executed the district commissioner of Ceel Cade of Somalia’s Gedo region.
The commissioner’s body was found decapitated after a search that lasted several days.
His security officer Yahya Hussein Isaq told reporters that the commissioner was kidnapped moments after he allowed his security detail to retire for the evening.
The head of Gedo’s police Colonel Aden Ahmed Hirsi told journalists that his office is investigating the murder and they will find those responsible so that justice can be served.
The manner in which the commissioner was killed comes as no surprise, Al-Shabab is known for the unusual methods it has used in the past to kill officials of Somalia’s Transitional Federal Government.
This latest incident is a blow to Somalia’s Transitional Federal Government which has promised increased security for its citizens. A high level murder of this nature undermines the progress of the government in ensuring the rule of law.
