Support extended for the new political body announced in Somaliland
The scientific third law of Newton’s motion theory states that, when a body exerts forces on another body, the second body simultaneously extra force equal in magnitude and opposite in direction to that of the first body.
Likewise, in practical life, the same theory is appropriate with regards the political issues. The present Somaliland government is engaged a political corruption, which have influenced the birth of the new National salvation recently announced in the Hargeisa by the most respected personalities in Somaliland to put away the country from further deterioration.
At the time the people of Somaliland are expected to be united in view of the critical political climate circled the country, the government has accustomed the policy of dividing the society by hiring politicians, traditional sultanates and chiefs tasked to speak on behalf of the government in an effort of beatifying its image, which is losing popularity gradually. This is the same policy get used by the previous regime of Siyad Barre, which was finally sourced his fall down in 1991.
In the view of this circumstance, we the majorities of S/L Diasporas here in United Kingdom fully support the new National consultation salvaging committee by the most prominent personalities in Somaliland (political parties, members of parliament, independent politicians, intellectuals and members of dignified personalities of S/L societies) since the other constitutional bodies failed executing their obligations. The constitution is a document stating articles to be respected. However, in the case of its articles not honored, it is like a blank paper.
It is worth mentioning that a large portion of the society supports the new political body. We are all aware that, the two Somaliland parliaments shares the same self interest to that of the government and therefore, there is no political organization left protecting the national interest of the society, other than the above body. Somaliland parliament houses have lost their credibility’s.
Somaliland house of elders (Guurti) was formed 20 years ago in Borama on a period of six years term. The second parliament was formed 10 years ago. At any time their term runs off, automatically; it is extended to another term. We never witnessed potential clan disputes which they have settled. The conflict zones in many parts of the S/L still remain unsolved. Therefore, there is a question as whether we need them or not. One should forget that, they were nominated, but not elected.
This is a peculiar case in point like our situation. In working in parliament, they raise issues affecting their constituents, attending debates, debate about the government policy, voting on new laws most needed by the public and wider topics etc. Their duties are solely limited on protecting their interest and that of the government. They are just a parliament by name and therefore should be abolished, since they are of no benefit to the society, as they have lost the confidence of the public. Consequently any verbal communication from their part is considered by society as worthless.
We are very much confident that, those who are in conflict for the new political body will ultimately end result failure whether from the corrupt government officials or those indirectly hired by them namely so-called politicians or so-called traditional sultanates and chiefs, which are known by the public as the direct voice of the government, as they are branded against the progression of the motherland.
In the addition of the above, it has been authenticated that, the mainstream of the S/L society whether from home, USA, Europe, Arab countries and neighboring East African countries have expressed an identical visualization.
Everyone recognizes the fact, that Engineer Mohamed Hashi (Ex-finance minster) Dr. Hussein Mohamed Mohamoud (Ex-health minister) Mohamed Nuur Caraale Duur (Ex-interior minister) are much more professional, honest, efficient, transparent, reliable, fair, humble, enthusiastic and hard working and respectable than any minster of President Silanyo cabinet including his influential minister Hersi Haji Ali, who possess a limitless power with regards to major political decisions of the country.
Those three ministers have achieved most of the success in which the president praises for his administration. That means those who achieved the maximum have been replaced and those achieved the minimum has been kept in office. In other words success has been read as failure and failure as success. When the plans were refused, it was ‘back to square one’ for the architect.
Therefore, it is evident that ministers in S/L are nominated and were selected for other motivation other the qualities, which are listed above. This is reminds us a famous statement quoted by well respected Somalilander Abdillahi Abbi Farah, when he visited Mogadishu in early eighties “everything is working, but working to anti-clock wise or opposite direction”. In the end, we as Somalilanders unity for better purpose bring strength. Let’s stick to this principle, which is protecting our shared interest.
