Suicide bomber kills three in Mogadishu

Mogadishu January 16, 2024 (QJ) -A powerful explosion, suspected to be a suicide attack, occurred this afternoon in the vicinity of the Al-Hindi restaurant in the Hamarweyne district, at the back of the Banadir Regional Administration headquarters.

The person who blew himself up was said to have entered a place where people were sitting at the time, resulting in significant casualties with both fatalities and injuries reported among those present.

According to information from the Somali Police Force, the suicide blast outside the Al Hindi restaurant killed three people and injured two others.

Police sources indicate that authorities were tipped off about the attack in Hamarweyne. It has been revealed that the suspect had been under surveillance by the police, and was to apprehend him before he carried out the attack.

Security forces are conducting further investigations into the incident, and reports are suggesting that the explosion might have been aimed at the administration’s headquarters in Banadir.
