South-west reconciliation summit concludes in Baidoa
Baidoa Feb 05, 2023 (QJ) -A statement released from the South West reconciliation conference announced an agreement has been reached on the intense conflict that arose from the election of the region’s administration.
It was agreed that the election of the South West President will take place in January 2024, which became official after a one-year extension was granted to President Lafta Gareen.
According to the statement, the Ministry of Interior has been tasked with implementing the agreement, and it is stated that the selection of South West parliamentary members will begin in November.
This agreement is expected to resolve the disagreement between President Lafta Gareen and the South West opposition, which has also been a hindrance to the second phase of operations against Al-Shabaab in South West.
