Somaliland’s Information Minister Suspends SLNTV Manager over Alleged favoritism in the workplace

Hargeisa, 02 Dec 2013 (SDN) -Somaliland’s Minister of Information and National Guidance Mohamed Abdilahi Dahir “Cukuse”, has on Sunday ordered the immediate suspension of Somaliland National Television manager Khadar Ali Gaas over manager’s alleged practicing of favoritism in the workplace.

According to reliable sources within the Ministry of Information and National Guidance, the minister also ordered the security guards of the ministry no to allow the suspended manager to enter the ministry compound.

The Minister’s suspension came after a committee appointed by the minister to review the salaries earned by the staff of Somaliland National Television found out that there is salary variation among employees.

The final report issued by the committee found out that some of the staff are treated superior than others by allocating high salaries while the rest of the staff work with low salary.

The report further revealed that some employees earn a salary of up to $1000 per month while the rest of the staff earns $150 per month.

On September 2012, president Silanyo elevated Somaliland National Television to an independent parastatal.
