Somaliland Takes over the Control of Badhan in Eastern Sanaag
Badhan, Jun 28, 2013 (SDN) – Somaliland armed forces has taken over today the control of Badhan district in eastern Sanaag region from Puntland forces. Before today’s take over Somaliland and Puntland administrations have been existing together in the district. Residents of Badhan have welcomed Somaliland’s takeover of the control of the city. Somaliland government has set up military check points to the major highways leaving and entering the city. Reliable sources also told us that Somaliland armed forces attacked and encircled the home of Puntland anti-terror squad leader in the city. In last Tuesday Somaliland military evicted Puntland political agitators from Badhan. Reliable sources also told us that Somaliland’s move to take over the control of the city was orchestrated by Somaliland’s new minister of fisheries and marine resources Ali Jama Farah knows as Ali Bureed who hails from Badhan.
Meanwhile, Puntland’s livestock minister Saed Hassan Shire and deputy interior minister Abdi Jamaal have canceled their planned visit to Badhan due to Somaliland’s takeover of the control of the city.
SDN Badhan
