Somaliland: Inter-Clan Fighting In Sool Region Leaves 4 Dead

Gumays, 12 Jan 2014 (SDN) –Deadly clashes between two rival clans in Somaliland’s eastern region of Sool have left at least four people dead and dozens injured in renewed inter -clan fighting.  The latest clash took place in the Guumays town in Sool region on Sunday, Qurbejoog correspondent reported.

Dozens more have been injured in the fighting that was triggered by by revenge killings of two persons in Doclaha and Boholaha villages in this week.

Reports from Sool region also confirm that the fighting spread to other towns and villages in the region.

The violence has reportedly displaced hundreds of families, who have sought refuge in areas far from the conflict areas.

The lethal clashes erupted as a Puntland elects new president last in which he pledged that he will regain control of disputed Sool region after Somaliland took over from Puntland 2007.
