Somaliland: Gaashaan Basketball Team Defeats Visiting Djibouti Team-(Photos)

Hargeisa, Aug 26, 2013 (SDN)- Yesterday, Somaliland’s armed forces basketball team Gaashaan defeated visiting Djibouti city basketball team in no uncertain terms by a score of 44-42. Before the beginning of the game Gaashaan basketball team entered Timacade basketball arena proud and energetic, encouraging each other as they warmed up with swift passes, high fives, and upbeat cheers. The team radiated quiet confidence and unwavering team spirit as they practiced foul shots to their signature warm-up tune.

Ayaanle of Djibouti city scored the first basket of the game, but Gaashaan quickly established themselves as the dominate team. Khalid Dhuxul, the talented point guard of Gaashaan scored the first basket for his team on a picture perfect lay-up, and, by the end of the first half, each Gaashaan starter had generously contributed to Gaashaan ‘s 25-17 lead.

Gaashan also ended a relatively quiet third quarter with a lead margin of 4-points. In the final quarter, Gaashaan seemed to effortlessly close the deal. Abdirisak Risqo added two more baskets. To finish things off in the game’s final seconds, Gaashaan skipper Mohamoud Kuto scored a two point with a perfect lay-up.
