Somaliland: Education Minister Participate Garbage Collection Campaign [in Pictures]
Hargeisa 16.May (SDN) -Somaliland’s minister of education Samsam Abdi Adam with Hargeisa secondary school students has today launched a garbage collection campaign to clean the accumulated garbage to presidency Street. The campaign aligns with the government funded project to rebuilds the city’s biggest street ahead of 18th May celebrations. The minister and the students many went to collect garbage from the streets as per a new government initiative to clean up the city as the preparations of 18th May celebrations of somaliland’s independence is currently underway. Hundreds of students have participated in the campaign, removing tons of construction waste and disposed of tons of garbage. Education minister who spoke to the press during the campaign said that the most positive gains of the garbage collection campaign is to increase citizens’ level of awareness hence urging citizens to play an active role in resolving the garbage crisis During this month Somaliland government has launched a campaign intended for the general beautification of the city, like trimming trees along the main roads, repainting sidewalks and restoring street lamps.
