Somaliland Clerics call for an end to Las Anod fighting

Las Anod Feb 13, 2023 (QJ) – Religious leaders in Somaliland have called for an end to the conflict in Laascaanood, while also urging both sides to honor the ceasefire agreement.

The clerics expressed support for peacebuilding and reconciliation efforts, and stressed that the ongoing fighting only leads to more destruction and loss.

They called on media outlets and the public to report news accurately and to prioritize the protection of civilians, as is the duty of religious leaders.

Somali nationals living abroad were also urged to participate in promoting peace and to take part in efforts to end the conflict.

The Somali public was also urged to support efforts to provide aid to those affected by the conflict in Laascaanood.

Finally, the religious leaders emphasized that Somalilanders are brothers and sisters, and that it’s important to avoid causing harm to one another and to work towards peaceful coexistence.
