Somaliland: 2013 Regional Tournament Groups Announced

Hargeisa, June 01 2013 (SDN)—Somaliland’s ministry of sports and youth has on today announced the results of the draw for the 2013 regional tournament which will begin tomorrow.In a press conference held jointly by the director general of the ministry Mr. Mustaphe Mohamoud Qodax and the chairman of the tournament’s organizing committee announced the results of the draw for the football and basketball games. In football draw, the thirteen football field consists of hosts and defending champions Marodijeh region and twelve other regions. Hosts and defending champions Marodijeh region was drawn in group A along four other regions namely, Buhodle, Sarar, Sanag and Selel regions. Last year runner-up Hawd region was drawn in group B along with Badhn, Sahil and Daad Madhedh regions. Also last year hosts Togdher region was drawn in group C which is dubbed as the “death group” along with Sool, Awdal and Gabiley regions. In basketball draw, it will be a great treat for the fans as they will be seeing defending champions Marodijeh region and last year runner-up Hawd region in Group A facing each other along with Sanag region. In group B four regions are facing each other namely Awdal, Gabiley, Sahil and Togdher.
