Somalia: Authorities apprehend 16 suspects linked to the SYL Hotel attack
Mogadishu March 25, 2024 (QJ) -The security agencies of the Federal Government of Somalia who investigated the attack carried out by al-Shabaab militants on the SYL Hotel in Mogadishu on March 14, 2024, have apprehended 16 suspects linked to the attack.
The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) announced that they had successfully captured Abdinasir Dahir Nur, who was identified as the individual facilitating the militants’ entry into the SYL Hotel.
Additionally, up to 4 individuals have been detained for allegedly providing logistical support to the perpetrators of the SYL Hotel attack.
The comprehensive report released by the National Intelligence and Security Agency mentioned ongoing investigations involving up to 5 individuals from the government security forces who were suspected of collaborating with al-Shabaab militants and aiding their infiltration into the areas where the attacks occurred.
Finally, the NISA stated, “All arrested terrorist network members and other suspects in this case will be handed over to the justice authorities for prosecution to ensure justice is served.”
