Somali camels still arriving

MAKKAH — Somali companies are preparing to make new large shipments of camels to Saudi Arabia to meet the rising market demand that usually precedes the holy month of Ramadan.

Makkah daily said Thursday that the Somali camels are still coming to the Kingdom despite accusations that they might be the cause of coronavirus.

The newspaper quoted the director of the Ministry of Animal Wealth in Somalia, Abdul Rahman Qaili, as saying that they have not been asked by the Kingdom to stop sending camels.

He said his ministry did not detect any coronavirus in the country’s camels. The Kingdom is the main importer of camels from Somalia.— SG
