Somali Cabinet rejects Defence agreement with UAE
Muqdisho Feb 01, 2023 (QJ) – The cabinet of the Somali government, which met yesterday in Mogadishu, approved the Anti-Terrorism Law, the Immigration Law, and the Somalia-Uganda Business Partnership Agreement.
After a lengthy discussion and analysis, the Somali government ministers approved other laws submitted by various government departments. However, the Somali cabinet rejected the security agreement between Somalia and the United Arab Emirates presented by the Minister of Defense, Abdikadir Mohamed Nuur.
Some Somali government ministers raised objections to the security agreement between Somalia and the UAE, noting that revising and making changes to the agreement was important.
Finally, the cabinet recommended that the agreement be returned to the Ministry of Justice and the Office of the Attorney General for further review.
