President Silanyo Cuts Ribbon on New Job Creation Center

Hargeisa, 02 July 2013 (SDN) –Somaliland president Ahmed Mohamed Mohamoud Silanyo has on Monday officially cut the ribbon of the Shaqadoon (jobseekers) offices which are the first of its kind in the country to help to combat unemployment of the youth. The offices which are located at the Ministry of Health premises has been put in place by the Ministry of Planning in conjunction with the ministry of labour and social services that houses the new office. In another development the president opened a job fair at Mansoor Hotel titled Taking Somaliland to work geared towards availing youth access to avenues of employment. “We hope that that creation of jobs will stem the mass exodus of youth migrating to Europe” said president Silanyo

In a meeting at the conference hall with organizers and stakeholders the president informed that concentrated efforts are underway to stem the flow of illegal immigration through job creation

Said he, “government is doing all in its powers to address this issue once and for all especially through creating avenues of employment with the administration in the forefront by including talented youths in the civil service”

According to government figures the country sees an exodus of 150 youths on a monthly basis in pursuit of illegal immigration to Europe and other continents through the hands of unscrupulous human traffickers who are also in cahoots with Libyan based armed gangs who abduct the youths for ransom.
