President Hassan visits Baidoa amid election tension

Baidoa October 18, 2023 (QJ) – -The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, has arrived in the city of Baidoa, the capital of the South West State.

He was warmly welcomed in Baidoa by President Abdiasis Hassan Mohamed, local authorities, and the people of South West.

Hassan Sheikh is expected to visit various regions within South West and hold multiple meetings with local leaders.
The focus of the visit is to boost the efforts to combat Al-Shabaab, which continues to pose a threat to the regions of Jubaland and South West.

President Hassan Sheikh is visiting Baidoa at the end of President Laftagareen’s extended term in office, and also as opposition politicians were denied to go to Baidoa after they recently issued a statement saying that it is important to hold the delayed presidential election.
