Mogadishu residents show support for Gaza residents

Mogadishu October 20, 2023 (QJ) -Today, a large protests took place in the city of Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia, expressing strong condemnation of the harm inflicted by the Israeli air force on the people of Gaza.

Participants in the demonstrations, coming from various districts in Mogadishu, made a substantial showing of solidarity with the Palestinian people, particularly in their opposition to the air raids carried out by Israel on Palestinian soil, resulting in the loss of numerous innocent lives within a span of two weeks.

Sheikh Abdul Khayi, one of Somalia’s religious leaders, addressing the participants in the protest, emphasized that these demonstrations were meant to convey the Somali people’s strong condemnation of the air raids by Israel on Palestinian land. He also noted that this was an issue of great concern for Muslims worldwide and for the Somali people.

The demonstrations in Mogadishu coincided with a statement by the Federal Government of Somalia, which strongly condemned the Israeli air raids on Gaza, calling for an immediate ceasefire and the protection of innocent lives.
