Mogadisho mayor talks security with ATMIS

Mogadishu March 29, 2023 (QJ) – The Governor of Banadir Region and Mayor of Mogadishu, Mr. Yusuf Hussein Jimale (Madale), received the African Union Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) Ambassador Mohamed Al-Amin Souef at the City Hall in Mogadishu.

During their meeting, the Governor and the ATMIS representative discussed the cooperation between the Banadir administration and ATMIS, as well as the implementation of the security plan for the capital, particularly in addressing the Al-Shabaab threat and improving security.

Ambassador Souef highlighted that AMISOM remains committed to supporting Somalia’s efforts to combat Al-Shabaab and enhance peace and stability in the country.

He noted that ATMIS aims to complete its mandate by December 2024, with a focus on empowering the Somali forces to take charge of their security and development.
