Ministry of Health Marks International Malaria Day in Hargeisa

Hargeisa (SDN)-Somaliland’s Deputy Minister of Health Nimco Hussein Qawdhan marked International Malaria Day in the nation’s capital. She was joined by the head of the Ministry’s malaria department Dr. Abdi Abdillahi who spoke about the strides being taken by the government to combat the disease and the status of the Ministry’s work in this regard.

Members of UNICEF and the World Health Organization were also there to discuss their partnerships with the Ministry in curbing malaria.

The deputy Minister described Malaria as one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in the nation and reminded members of the public to seek medical attention if they present symptoms of the disease because early detection of the illness can lead to better treatment and control of the disease.
