Kenyan forces hit Al Shabaab strongholds in Jubaland

Mogadishu (QJ) – Reports from Bu’aale district in the central region of Jubaland, which is the largest stronghold of the Al-Shabaab group in Somalia, indicate that yesterday, there were fierce clashes involving combat aircraft.

Combat aircraft reportedly carried out several airstrikes on Al-Shabaab-held locations within Bu’aale district. The reports suggest that some of these airstrikes caused significant damage to Al-Shabaab compounds.

The exact extent of the damage inflicted by yesterday’s airstrikes on Bu’aale district is not yet known, as there is no official confirmation of casualties or the specific targets hit. It is also unclear whether there were civilian casualties.

These airstrikes are part of a broader military campaign by the Kenyan military against Al-Shabaab, with many airstrikes targeting areas and districts in the Jubaland and Gedo regions.

There has been no official statement from the Jubaland administration or the Federal Government of Somalia regarding the casualties or the airstrikes in Bu’aale city.
