Jigjiga Receives Help From USAID
Jigjiga (SDN) -The United States government’s international development organization (USAID) supplied the municipal headquarters of Jigjiga today with much needed equipment.
The Mayor of Jigjiga thanked USAID and Mercy Corps which is USAID’s main partner in the region for the shipment which is expected to help the government in its day to day running of the municipality.
The partnership between USAID and Mercy Corps has contributed greatly to the development of Jigjiga which now appears to be a city on the rise.
The shipment is meant to equip municipal offices with computers, printers, desks, maintenance supplies, tools, etc., to ensure the smooth functioning of the local government.
Jigjiga is located in eastern Ethiopia and has a majority Somali population; Somalis living in the region have been historically marginalized by the federal government along with other minority groups.
