Israeli airstrikes continue despite UN Ceasefire Resolution
Gaza March 26, 2024 (QJ) -At least 18 people were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a residential building in the city of Rafah last night, with numerous children among the casualties, according to eyewitnesses interviewed by local media outlets.
The attacks in the southern Gaza district, where more than 1.4 million Palestinians took refuge, come after the United Nations Security Council issued a resolution yesterday urging an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, marking the first time such a decision has been reached since the beginning of the six-month-long conflict.
The resolution has raised hopes among Gaza residents. However, they remain cautious as responses from the Israeli Prime Minister’s office and its military say that the resolution will not affect the Israeli military operations against Hamas.
Moreover, last night, Israeli warplanes carried out more than 60 airstrikes on Gaza, indicating that Israel has disregarded the UN resolution.
