Israel recovers Hostage Bodies in Gaza
Tel Aviv May 18, 2024 (QJ) -The Israeli military announced today that they had recovered the bodies of three individuals who had been held hostage in the Gaza Strip.
All three individuals were killed while escaping from the Nova music festival, back on October 7th and their bodies were found in Gaza.
Media, citing military officials, reported that the bodies were discovered in a tunnel in Gaza.
Nearly 240 people were kidnapped and taken to Gaza during the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, which resulted in the deaths of more than 1,200 people. Over 100 were released during a temporary ceasefire agreement in November, but Israel believes that 132 hostages are still being held in Gaza, 128 of whom were captured on October 7.
Israel believes that among the 132 hostages, 40 are dead, including two who were kidnapped in 2014.
Hamas fighters stated that Israel’s rejection of the ceasefire plan proposed by negotiators in Cairo is the reason why the living hostages have not been returned.
