International Officials Visit Abdirahman Abdiqadir

Hargeisa (SDN)-Prominent members of international NGOs visited ailing veteran Abdirahman Abdiqadir Farah earlier today. Abdirahman Abdiqadir Farah was injured during the Kulmiye party annual general meeting where he was forcibly removed from the proceedings. This followed his unceremonious dismissal by President Siilaanyo from his position as deputy of the party.

Sources present told SDN that leaders from UNPOS (the United Nations Political Office for Somalia) visited Abdirahman Abdiqadir before he was transported for treatment.

However, they did not reveal the names or the number of visitors but did say that the officials wanted to see Abdirahman’s medical condition for themselves.

Some reports say that after visiting with Abdirahman the group went to the Administrative Headquarters of the government.

It is unclear if they discussed their visit with President Siilaanyo.

It has also been reported that individuals from the European Union present in Somaliland also visited Abdirahman Abdiqadir in his home in Hargeisa.

Abdirahman was publicly dismissed as the co-deputy of the Kulmiye party this past week at their annual general meeting where he reportedly suffered physical injuries.  He was airlifted for medical purposes to the United Arab Emirates for further diagnostics and medical treatment.

His brother Ali Abdiqadir made arrangements to have Abdirahman airlifted from the coastal city of Berbera. Abdirahman Abdiqadir is a well-known veteran and one of the founders of the Somali National Movement which was launched from his home in London. He was forcibly escorted from last week’s meeting by members of the military. It is believed that his injuries are a result of a pre-existing back condition that was exacerbated by the rough conduct of army officials.
