Hamas proposes a new ceasefire plan

Cairo March 15, 2024 (QJ)  -The militant group Hamas has issued a proposal, outlining several points addressed to the mediators between them and Israel, which includes the exchange of prisoners.

Hamas’s conditions include demands for Israel to release Palestinian prisoners, numbering over 100 individuals, who are held under indefinite detention. Additionally, they insist on the release of female prisoners, minors, and detainees held by Israel.

According to a statement received by the media and subsequently shared with the United States, Hamas is prepared to finalize negotiations on the issue of prisoners, intending to exchange approximately 700-1000 Palestinian prisoners held by Israel.

Egypt seeks to facilitate a ceasefire in Gaza, urging for the delivery of humanitarian aid and permitting Palestinians displaced in the southern and central regions of the territory to return to the north, said President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on Wednesday.

As the conflict continues into its sixth month, the United Nations has sounded alarms over at least 576,000 Gazans facing humanitarian crises and escalating global condemnations against Israel’s intensified bombardments.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated on Thursday that Hamas’s conditions are still unrealistic, indicating that the mediation efforts will continue, followed by reassessment on Friday.
