Had Sahra Halgan originated from Somalia, she would have been nominated in a leadership position and a good example is Foiza Hajji Adan
Somali land is extraordinarily conservative society whereby there are no zones for women and that is against the human act bill of rights and equal to discrimination and in the event Sahra Halgan born and originate from Somalia, she would have been nominated one of the top posts of Somalia. The majority of our women like Sahra were active participants of Somali national movement. However, none of them have been honoured simply because being female. We discriminate our women simply because biological difference than us. Foiza Hajji Adan was good civil activists contributed various number of successful development programmes in Somali-land like Hargeisa university. However, few of us recognize her role for the achievement she accomplished for the shared benefit of our society prior becoming Unionist by ideology. In reality, she was a bridge that connects development to the society.
On 4 November 2012, Foiza was named Foreign Minister of Somalia. She is the first woman to have been selected for the position. Apart being, Foreign Minister of Somalia, she was also appointed Deputy Prime Minister. Throughout the ages, from the earliest days of Islam to contemporary times today, Muslim women have been and continue to be active leaders in their communities and countries across the world. This directory is a growing archive of leading Muslim women scholars, activists, writers, politicians, artists, religious and spiritual leaders, civil society leaders and many more. We have one single MP member in our parliament whereas there are at least 15 % women in Somali federal parliament. Foiza Hajji Adan when she was Foreign Minister of Somalia, she influenced many reputation and fame for the Somali government. The issue of women in Islam is a top of great misunderstanding and distortion due to lack understanding. But also due partly due misbehaviour of some Muslims like somaliland which has been taken to represent the teaching of Islam. According our wholly Quran, man and women have same spirit, there is no superiority in the spiritual sense between men and women
Gender equality is achieved when women and men enjoy the same rights and opportunities across all sectors of society, including economic participation and decision-making, and when the different behaviours, aspirations and needs of women and men are equally valued and favoured. Gender equality is measured by looking at the representation of men and of women in a range of roles. Gender equality is the measurable equal representation of women and men. Gender equality does not imply that women and men are the same, but that they have equal value and should be accorded equal treatment. The United Nations regards gender equality as a human right. It points out that empowering women is also an indispensable tool for advancing development and reducing poverty. Equal pay for equal work is one of the areas where gender equality is rarely seen. The importance of gender equality is highlighted by its inclusion as one of the 8 millennium development goal that serve as a framework for halving poverty and improving lives.
Gender refers to the social attributes and opportunities associated with being male and female and the relationships between women and men and girls and boys, as well as the relations between women and those between men. These attributes, opportunities and relationships are socially constructed and are learned through socialization processes. They are context/ time-specific and changeable. Gender determines what is expected, allowed and valued in a women or a man in a given context. In most societies there are differences and inequalities between women and men in responsibilities assigned, activities undertaken, access to and control over resources, as well as decision-making opportunities. Gender is part of the broader socio-cultural context. Other important criteria for socio-cultural analysis include class, race, poverty level, ethnic group and age. Taken above into consideration the explanation detailed in the above, somaliland is a country where noble women like Sahra Halgan is least honored. Amina Mohamed Jibril, Somali by a origin has been appointed as Kenyan foreign minister even though the Somalis make not more than 10 % of Kenyan population. That indicates that even other African countries like Kenya has more of our women tan us. In conclusion, unless we improve the degrading our women, the possibility of capturing the attention of the worl family is yet remote distant.
