Gaza ceasefire talks fail
-A delegation from the Hamas organization, led by the group’s political leader Ismail Haniyeh, left Egypt after three days of failed talks held in the capital, Cairo.
According to reports from Hamas, the delegation met with Israeli officials and the head of Egyptian intelligence, Abbas Kamel, and discussed a ceasefire agreement involving the release of Israeli and Palestinian prisoners.
Additionally, they discussed humanitarian aid for the Gaza Strip and the tensions surrounding the Al-Aqsa Mosque in East Jerusalem, where Israeli forces have been preventing Muslims from worshiping for the past few weeks.
Israel and the United States seek to implement a ceasefire lasting several months, during which aid would be provided to Gaza, but Hamas opposes this plan, insisting on a permanent cease-fire and the withdrawal of all Israeli forces from Gaza.
On another front, the Israeli forces targeted a camp where displaced people live in the Az-Zawayda area in the middle of the Gaza Strip, while most of the people injured in the attack were children.
Israeli forces also demolished the former headquarters of the Abu Oreiban police station in the Nuseirat district, causing casualties and damage.
