Djibouti: Dileita elected speaker of parliament

Djibouti March 05, 2023 (QJ) -Today, the Parliament of Djibouti elected Dileita Mohamed Dileita as its new speaker. Dileita is a member of the largest party in the Djibouti parliament.

Born on March 12, 1958, Dileita hails from the region of Tadjoura in Djibouti. He is a member of the Union for National Salvation party.

He has been elected as the new Speaker of the Djibouti National Assembly and assumed office today, marking the beginning of the first parliamentary term.

Dileita previously served as Prime Minister of Djibouti from March 7, 2001, until March 31, 2013. President Ismaïl Omar Guelleh appointed Dileita as Prime Minister on March 4, 2001.
