Berbera Mayor Switches Allegiance to Ruling Party –(Video)
Berbera, Sep 29, 2013 (SDN) -The Mayor of Berbera city Abdishakur Mohamud Hassan (Cidin) and Berbera local council member Abdirashid Haji Mohamed Yusuf of the opposition Justice and Welfare party have amicably switched to the ruling party KULMIYE, which is the latest political earthquake to rattle UCID- the justice and welfare party. The defectors, who met with the leader of KULMIYE party, Muse Bihi Abdi, at an event held in Berbera city comprised mainly of diehard Kulmiye supporters, senior party officials, parliamentarians and cabinet members.
Both the mayor and the councilor stated that they are ready to take lion’s share for the nation-wide development projects initiated by Kulmiye led government of President Ahmed Mohamed Mohamoud Silanyo.
The defectors also said that they had been supporters of the UCID party since it was founded. However, they now found themselves in a position where they could no longer support “a party that is grossly incompetent and failed to fulfill its promises”.
This defection is further evidence of UCID’s dwindling support, and confirms the bleak prospects ahead for the party in the upcoming presidential and parliamentarian elections.
