Al Shabaab attacks Somali military base in Lower Shabelle

Mogadishu March 22, 2023(QJ) – Al Shabaab militants carried out an attack on a military base in the town of Daaru-Naciim, located in the district of Ruun-nirgood in Lower Shabelle region.

The violent confrontation between government forces and Al Shabaab resulted in significant casualties and injuries on both sides. Deputy Minister of Information for the Somali government, Abdirahman Yusuf Al-Adala, confirmed that Al Shabaab launched the attack on the military base in Daaru-Naciim.

He also stated that over 30 militants were killed in the operation and that a number of vehicles were seized, some of which were loaded with different types of explosives. Al Shabaab also claimed victory in the attack on Daaru-Naciim, saying they killed 20 soldiers and injured many others.
