AFRICOM Airstrike targets Al Shabaab

Mogadisho January 24, 2024 (QJ) -A confirmed U.S. airstrikes in the vicinity of the town of Xarardheere in the Mudug region, targeted members of Al-Shabaab.

A statement from the US Africom command said that the strikes, conducted at the request of the Somali government, took place near Xarardheere and that two Al-Shabaab members were killed.

The US Africom command said that yesterday’s strikes did not cause any deaths or injuries among civilians, and only targeted Al-Shabaab members.

The US has increased airstrikes against Al-Shabaab in the area, with strikes taking place in the Galcad area a few days ago, killing many Al-Shabaab fighters.
