The Shining Somaliland: Those Who Think Somaliland is Crumbling or Uniting with Somalia Should Swallow their Saliva

Those who think Somaliland is crumbling or uniting with Somalia should swallow their saliva and watch the festive mood of Somalilanders and their well-wishers around the world. Those who are dilly dallying and wavering from the idea of independent Somaliland should act swiftly and take note of the progress, the peace, the co-existence and the developments of Somaliland and join them. Those who are celebrating by collecting their rubbish dumps from the streets should continue doing so because it reduces the risks of diseases. It is the best celebration for 18th of May.

The people of Somaliland came out in scores to celebrate the peace and tranquillity they have gained in the last 23 years. They wore multi-coloured clothes depicting the flag of Somaliland from Zaila to Badhan and Laasanod. Live TV programmes were broadcasted throughout the world to show the celebrations happening locally and internationally. Happy and smiling people have participated in every event that was organised from China to USA. The anti-Somalilanders stayed at their homes with gloomy and envious mood glaring at their TVs with disbelief.

In Hargeisa cats and birds were painted on the red, green and white colours of the flag of Somaliland. Somaliland flags were planted in the middle of the sea wondering how they have been done. The President of Somaliland has taken a salute from the king of the forest ‘a lion’. Units of the national army and the police who mastered the techniques of marching paraded in Hargeisa, followed by procession of people who were celebrating for that special day.

The calls coming from Somalia for unity is not sacred at present. The existence and the wellbeing of the people of Somaliland are sacred and it will never go in negotiations. Somalia is still in disarray, there are interest groups who are not ready to see a peaceful Somalia. Men who planted poison in the eastern part of Somaliland are now causing havoc in Mogadisho. Some members of the parliament are now waging impeachment on the government. The government could not solve the problems of lower Juba ‘Kismayo’ where 5 men claimed to be presidents. Galmudug and Xubin iyo Xeeb are claiming to be in the federation. The area from Brava to Kismayo and many other places are still under the control of Alshabaab. The country is occupied by foreign troops and they are calling for more to settle. For Somaliland this situation is from going out paradise to hell and no sane person will allow Somaliland to rejoin Somalia.

I have witnessed the aerial bombardment of Hargeisa. I was on the valley of ‘Waraab-salaan when someone called me to take off my shirt because of the airplane and I ignored. I thought that the government was fighting with SNM. After a second it slaughtered many people in the valley where my family stayed. We also hid ourselves under trees because the airplane was dropping bombs on villages on the border to Ethiopia.
