Haldoor event in Hargeisa By Ismacil Lugwayne
Recently an event called named as Haldoor has been held in Hargisa, which is attended as a guest of honour by Somaliland president. According to a survey poll conducted in London 95 % of the Somalilanders criticized the event due to the absences of a fair manner on selection method and alleged a different opinion other the one said publicly by organizer.
There are international standard techniques which are necessary to be performed when such events like one held in Hargeisa is essential to be adapted. For example, following is the procedure of selecting and nominating the Norwegian Nobel prices.
The Norwegian Nobel prize Committee composes of members of Norwegian Parliament. The Committee’s composition reflects the relative strengths of the political parties in the Sorting, and is assisted by specially appointed expert advisers and furthermore another committee of arbitrary judges screens the winners before announcing the final selection. The final winners are selected from a short list of candidates.
In the event a unanimous accord has not been reached, then a majority vote is considers. This sequence of process points out how the selection scheme is fair to all. I am not at all comparing S/L against the world number noble committee, but my intention is highlight to the public just a clue of a trustful course of actions, which secures the confidence of everybody.
There are hundreds of award committees throughout the world in Europe, America, Middle East, Asia, North America, Australia and Africa, and all these countries shares a widespread practice, which is institutions to handle for such events and not by individuals like the one held in Hargeisa
It is understood prices are awarded for personalities, who have contributed a noticeable accomplishment to the society and not by controversial individuals, which some of them are included on the list.
Subsequent to reviewing the hundred names announced, a fast majority of Somaolilanders have identified individuals included in the list, who have not contributed any valuable aspects for the society advancement despite the fact the presences of honourable personalities pleasurable to all such as Sheikh Dirir, Sheikh Mustafa and Somali president, Ahmed Mohamoud Silanyo, who have accomplished a noticeable advancement in country during his short term in office as well some other famous personalities being indentified added a valuable contribution to the society.
In my opinion, the organizer has different intention other than the one declared publicly. This view is shared with me by 95 % of citizens throughout Somaliland starching from Awdal and up to Sool.
I would not name them, but there are noble personalities, which their contributions of the society advancement are noticeable through the country, which are not included in the list and in the event, the selection was based on rational approach; no doubt these personalities would have been recognized on top of the list and therefore, It is evident that, they were deliberated disregarded.
Taken above into reflection, most Somalilanders have lost the confidence of the organizers and recognized the event as Haldeed instead of Haldoor as labelled by the organizer.
The only advantage for the event is the thought and the need to recognize the noble personalities, who contributes advancement of the society in the future in a fair manner.
With regard the army men included in list, first and foremost, it is unwise to mark military personalities for such events considering our general situation.
Khaatumo cannot be treated as our potential enemies, as they are Somalilanders required to be influenced to lay down weapons and persuade joining to our national army.
Had we a long ago, Somaliland authorities would have put into evidence development projects noticeable on the ground for the people of the eastern regions in Somaliland, situation could have been better that the current circumistance.
An amazing amount of resources have been exhausted on other purpose on these regions, which have not produced any constructive consequence.
Considering above into consideration, possibly we ourselves is indirectly responsible on the formation of Khaatumo. It could be hard to admit this reality, but this is a practicality, which we have to acknowledge regardless of its bitterness.
