New Djibouti FA president pledges change

The new president of Djibouti Football Federation Souleiman Hassan Waberi has pledged a big change in terms of football development in his country. He made the pledge after he was elected as the Djibouti FA president on Saturday morning in the presence of high profile officials from FIFA and CAF.

During a post election address, Mr. Souleiman Waberi said that during his term of office he will weigh on the development of grassroots and the improvement of the local league and the National football team who is currently ranked 198 in the FIFA Coca-Cola world ranking.

“I cannot conclude my remarks without thanking the action of my predecessor the former head of the Federation Mr. Hussein Fadoul Dabar— I salute the way for services to football in Djibouti for the past 18 years he served as the head of the Djibouti football Federation” newly elected president Souleiman Hasasn Waberi told during his post election address on Saturday.

“My thanks are also due to the members of the electoral commission who did a remarkable job, FIFA, CAF representatives, the Secretariat of State for Youth and Sports, the staff of the Federation, and all those who have contributed to or indirectly helped in the successful organization of this election” the president noted during his address.

The new president is experienced in football administration and has been in the field of football management since 1992 when he became the Chairman of the CRC team, the post he held since 1997.

He also served as the Assistant General Secretary & Treasurer of the Djibouti football Federation since 2005. In the same year he was appointed as FIFA/CAF commissioner, while since 2008 he has been serving as member of the CECAFA arbitration committee.

In the year 2004 Mr. Souleiman Hassan Waberi was appointed as the inspector referee of the Union of Arab football Associations (UAFA). As his knowledge and experience in refereeing had grown enough Mr. Souleiman was appointed as CAF referee instructor in 2004 and he is still servicing as a referee instructor.

Born in Ali Sabeih region of Djibouti on the 29th of February in 1972, the New Djibouti Football Federation President Souleiman Hassan Waberi is recognised as the most hardworking man in Djibouti football for the past decade.
