Somali, Kenyan Forces Kill Five in Kismayo

Kismayo — Somalia’s National Army (SNA) together with Kenyan forces which are part of African Union mission in Somalia (AMISOM) have killed on Thursday at least five people in the southern port city of Kismayo, reports said.

Eyewitnesses said the allied forces launched Thursday a search and door-to-door security operations in the city, searching Al shabab remnants hiding out the villages.

“We saw Somali and Kenyan soldiers shooting five young men suspected to be or have links with Al shabab as they were carrying pistols,” a residents who asked to hide his identity for fear of reprisal told Shabelle Media by phone.

No government official in the city was available to reach for comments on the killing.

Kismayo, a port city in southern Somalia has been captured on Friday by Somali and AMISOM forces after Al shabab military withdrew from the town.
