Political Immorality That Must Be Arrested Without Any Further Delay

Dear Somaliland people,. Our main political parties have been hide outs for questionable characters, propelling quacks to leadership in this country, the type of mediocre leadership that can only make us a far cry our what a country’s leadership ought to be. Political parties are established under the laws of Somaliland, whose objectives or themes are subscribed by Somaliland by paying membership fees and purchase of a ticket for nominations towards one main objective – taking over the government by democratic means (being a mandate by the citizenry via elections). I know its is provided for that a party can make by laws ( rules and regulations) for eternal governance – this is where the problem begins as attention is not made to the details ;-
1. During nominations, excitement of a catch (popular personality and his money plays ball) that rules and regulations
play second fiddle.
2. Democracy – upon disgruntlement for a reason or another, political immorality gets cited in the name of
“democracy” why cant democracy first find space internally!
The recipe for this is fast and foremost institutionalizing our political parties by removing from their core party leadership structures politicians. Political parties ought to be managed professionally and by people who have no political ambitions that inadvertently clouds their good judgments and makes them hostage to political wheeler dealing, shady and non- ideological alliances besides individualizing such parties. In fact, a well managed party ought not to have wrangles, any action taken definitely will adhere to the party constitution and regulations without the attendant witch hunting characterizing the ones we have.
We must, as a country, endeavor to ensure parties are as democratic as they ought to be by curtailing the powers of politicians to determine who runs in which position. If for instance, free, fair and democratic nominations were to be held, voters would have a chance to put into leadership visionary leaders. But our mainstream parties have perfected the art of raping democracy through a process called “Direct Nominations” where characters who would otherwise fail credibility testing by the voters are giving a back door entrance into leadership. It is time as Somaliland we decided to raise the bar to what meets our national credibility standards. It is a monstrosity of its kind and unique to Somaliland to have suspected murderers, thieves, womanizers, wife barterers, philanderers, drug barons, money launderers, land grabbers etc presiding over our national matters. What do we expect as a country with such people at the helm?
Bending these standards just so that the usual suspects can “qualify” will perpetually make us a country of aborted revolutions. We will keep making false steps with our efforts to transform Somaliland. My point here is that under rules and regulations provided for by the law, High standards can take us somewhere unlike low or no standards at all that clamps us to the ground forgetting that we are living in the 21st century, a century of change ( New constitutional order, technological advancement, development standards. Too much ambition breaks a man-Too little takes him nowhere.
I thus support the setting up standards for leadership and standing vigilant to monitor the mission, and realize the development goal as per the visions in place.
