Somaliland Unveils 5 Year Health Sector Development Plan

Doctors and specialists from Somaliland’s various regions met at the Mansoor Hotel in the city of Hargeisa today to discuss the development of a five year plan to improve Somaliland’s health care system.

Abdi Ahmed Nuur, the general director of the Ministry of Health spoke at the event which is expected to take place over the next three days. He highlighted the importance of implementing the five year development plan for Somaliland’s health sector and described the process as vital.

The general director asked delegates to consider innovative ideas and provide advice and best practices that can be used to implement the 5 year health care sector reform plan.

Khadar Mahamuud Ahmed who serves as the ministry of health’s deputy director in charge of planning also discussed the diligence with which the ministry of health is working towards advancing health services delivery in Somaliland

He also mentioned that in recent months the ministry has taken part in several international health conferences where they took the opportunity to present the five year development plan.
