Car Crash in Somalia’s Sool Region Raises Concerns over Road Safety

Taleeh (SDN) A fatal single vehicle car accident occurred in the Sool region of Somalia several hours ago with reports of casualties in the city of Taleeh.

Two people have been confirmed dead, one of them a woman. Three others are injured but stable. The car they were driving was a small luxury model. The dead have already been buried in the city of Taleeh.

Witnesses told our website that when the accident occurred several bystanders went to the aid of the injured and transported them to a hospital located in Sool.

The cause of the accident remains unclear but may be due to poor road conditions or driver recklessness. Somalia’s infrastructure has been in decline since the civil war in the early 90s. Since then some roads and bridges have become death traps for citizens especially those that are not use to navigating rough terrain.
