PM’s Bodyguards Arrested in Theatre Bombing Plot
Mogadishu (SDN)-Recent reports say that members of the Transitional Federal Government’s administrative security service arrested up to six individuals who are believed to be part of the security contingent for the office of the Prime Minister of the TFG Cabdiwali Maxamed Cali Gaas. It is believed that these individuals were involved in the bombing that took place at the National Theatre in the city of Mogadishu earlier this month.
Sources inside the administrative security force confirmed to our website that the suspects are currently in custody and are being interrogated about the bombing that occurred at the National Theatre.
They also said that suspicions arose when some of the Prime Minister’s security guards escaped in the aftermath of the explosion.
Leaders of the Transitional Federal Government were quick to play the blame game in the theatre bombing, pointing the fingers at one another and various ministries. The public’s confusion grew as questions were raised as to who facilitated Al-Shabaab in the attack.
Leaders of Al-Shabaab who spoke of the attack stated that corrupt members of the Transitional Federal Government of Somalia assisted them in planning and executing the violence.
Cabdiwali Maxamed Cali Gaas, Somalia’s Prime Minister stated that Al-Shabaab is responsible for the attack and that his office has formed a committee to investigate the incident and that the public will be informed of their report.
Internal government conflict and attacks by Al-Shabaab have made efforts to bring peace to Somalia a difficult task for the TFG after decades of civil strife and poses a serious threat to the August 2012 deadline to adopt a new constitution and hold democratic elections.
