SNA Airstrikes targets AS fighters in Galgadud region

Mogadishu October 04, 2024(QJ)-Somali military aircraft, supporting ground forces, carried out heavy airstrikes tonight on areas in the eastern part of the Galgadud region, reportedly targeting Al Shabab fighters.

These heavy airstrikes were said to have targeted Al Shabab’s bases and other locations where the militants were present, specifically in areas including Mesagawey, Baraag Sheikh Amir, and Asweyne.

Somalia’s Minister of Defense, Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur, confirmed the strikes, stating that several locations where Al Shabab militants were stationed were bombed tonight. However, he did not specify the extent of the damage inflicted on Al Shabab.

“Tonight, the Kharijites in the Galgadud region are being struck by hellfire bombs! Our prayers are with you. Our heroes, be victorious,” the Minister of Defense wrote.

Officers from the Somali National Army reported that Al Shabab suffered significant losses from the airstrikes, although it is difficult to determine the exact extent of the damage inflicted on the group tonight.
