20,000 patients with serious illnesses waiting for the Rafah crossing to re-open
Rafah May 25, 2024 (QJ)-More than 20,000 patients with serious illnesses are waiting for the Rafah crossing to open so they can leave Gaza for urgent medical treatment.
“Over 20,000 patients suffering from cancer, heart disease, and blood disorders are waiting for the crossing to open due to humanitarian conditions caused by the siege, blockade, and massacres imposed on Gaza’s civilian population,” said Ashraf al-Qudra, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health.
Al-Qudra called the situation a “war crime and a blatant violation of patients’ health rights as stipulated by international humanitarian law.”
He urged the international community to intervene and save the victims from suffering and death, highlighting that Israeli attacks on health facilities have rendered them inoperative.
