Hamas close to signing a Ceasefire agreement with Israel
Cairo May 03, 2024 (QJ) -Hamas has shown a willingness to consider a ceasefire agreement following recent changes in Israel’s approach, which has been welcomed by many who seek to de-escalate tensions and initiate peace talks.
Many Arab leaders reportedly spoke with Hamas political chief Ismail Haniyeh yesterday to facilitate progress in ceasefire negotiations.
Haniyeh assured the Egyptian intelligence chief, Abbas Kamel, that Hamas is committed to the ceasefire initiative, expressing a positive outlook. This comes amid reports that Hamas is to send a delegation to Cairo for mediation efforts.
Additionally, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan condemned the hypocrisy of Western leaders regarding the ongoing attacks on Palestinians in Gaza.
Turkey has taken measures against Israel, announcing a comprehensive halt to trade it had with Israel. The Ministry of Trade declared today, while also joining South Africa in condemning Israel’s actions and submitting a complaint to the International Court of Justice.
