President Hassan Signs the Amended Articles of the Constitution

Mogadishu (QJ) -The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, has signed the Official Document for the Amendment of the Articles of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Somalia, which was approved by a majority vote of the Members of Parliament from both Houses of the Federal Parliament of Somalia yesterday.

President Hassan Sheikh stated that the completion of the Constitution is crucial for advancing democracy, ensuring the rights of all Somali citizens, and establishing functional government institutions.

The official signing ceremony for the Amendment Document of the Constitution was attended by the Speakers of the two Houses of the Federal Parliament of Somalia.

On Saturday, Members of Parliament from both Houses convened to vote on the four articles of the Federal Government of Somalia’s constitution.

As a result, the Puntland administration, which opposed the amendment of the Constitution, officially announced that it had withdrawn its recognition from the federal government. Therefore it acts as an independent state.
