Washington can’t support Rafah Seage by Israel
Washington February 10, 2024 (QJ) -The United States may withdraw its military support for Israel’s attacks on the Rafah area of Gaza City if there is no clear plan to address more than a million displaced civilians, as Deputy Spokesperson of the US State Department Vedant Patel stated.
Patel emphasized that US Secretary of State Antony Blinken had conveyed this matter clearly to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during talks held on Wednesday in Israel.
When asked where more than a million residents of Rafah could go, given that they cannot flee to the north of Gaza due to military clashes in the south, Patel said, “The question is a legal one that we believe Israel should answer.”
Netanyahu explicitly stated on Wednesday that “Israeli forces are preparing to fight in Rafah.”
Humanitarian organizations have warned of a humanitarian crisis if Israeli troops enter Rafah, where tens of thousands of Palestinians reside
