Puntland Authorities capture pirates and smugglers
Garowe February 07, 2024 (QJ) -Recent reports coming from Puntland regions indicate that security forces have conducted operations capturing individuals suspected of involvement in illegal activities, including piracy and smuggling weapons.
The operation took place in the Raas Caseer region, resulting in the arrest of three individuals.
The regional commander of the area, Brigadier Fu’aad Mahamoud Hussein, addressed the media, stating that they collaborated with both the police and maritime security forces of the Puntland regional administration.
Furthermore, he mentioned that the three arrested suspects will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
He also warned that they will continue such operations and will combat piracy and any threats to the region’s security.
This development comes as in recent months, groups engaged in piracy activities have been increasingly active along the Somali coast, launching attacks on several vessels.
