Israel and Hamas agreement allows aid into Gaza

Qatar January 17, 2024 (QJ) Israel and Hamas have reached an agreement that allows substantial humanitarian aid to the city of Gaza, as stated by members of the Qatari delegation involved in the agreement.

The agreement, which involved representatives from Qatar, US and France, included providing medical aid to the Israeli hostages in the hands of Hamas.

Israel agreed to the delivery of foundational aid to Gaza. The situation in the city is critical, with Israeli airstrikes continuing for more than three months, causing significant challenges for the population.

Meanwhile, the United States said it hoped that further talks could lead to the release of more hostages.

An American delegation has been in Qatar in recent months, engaging in discussions to facilitate a possible agreement of this nature.

The spokesperson for the U.S. National Security Council, John Kirby, stated that the talks were ‘”genuine and took a lot of effort”..’

The spokesperson for Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Majed Al Ansari, has also confirmed the aid agreement.

The agreement specifies that humanitarian aid will be provided by Qatar, and from there, it will be sent to Egypt, ultimately reaching Gaza to support the civilian population.
